Vincent G. Tramontana, age 70, passed away on the evening of Monday January 25, 2021 while a resident of the Westbrook Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Westlake following an extended illness. Born in Buffalo, New York, he and his family moved to Lorain in 1958.


Vince was a 1967 graduate of Admiral King High School. Following graduation, he was inducted into the United States Army where he fulfilled duty assignments as a Staff Sergeant attached to the 8th Engineering Brigade; he was the holder of a Rifle Marksman Badge.  Upon fulfillment of his initial service obligation, Vince remained a member of the U.S. Army Reserve for the next eighteen years. He officially retired from military service in 1988 at which time he was presented with the United States Army Commendation Medal.

Vince had been employed as a quality control specialist at Ford Motor Company’s Lorain Assembly Plant. A long time member of U.A.W. Local 425, he retired from the automaker in 2005 following thirty-five years of service.

He was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain where he formerly served as a CYO volleyball coach. He was also a Fourth Degree Grand Knight with Fr. Ragan Council # 3269 of the Knights of Columbus in Avon.

In his free time, Vince was an ardent fan of the sports programs at Lorain Catholic High School until the time of it’s closing in 2004.

Survivors include daughters Katelyn Tramontana (Kristy Barber-Tramontana) of Lakewood, Alyssa Baltas (Nicholas) of Rocky River, and grandsons Jack and Case Baltas. In addition, he leaves brothers Salvatore Tramontana (Sandra) of Amherst and Michael Tramontana of Las Vegas, along with sisters Anne Marie Wolfe (James) of Bradenton, Florida and Cosma “Dolly” Marciniak of Lorain.

Vince was preceded in death by his wife Jacquelyn (nee Unger) in 2009, and by parents Michael and Rose (nee D’Angelo) Tramontana.

Funeral Schedule

Please join the Tramontana Family for the celebration of his funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church – 1305 East Erie Avenue in Lorain at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday February 2nd.  (Facial coverings and social distancing will be observed.) Reverend Gerald J. Keller will serve as the celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by Amvets Post # 32 of Elyria.
