Gluvna Shimo Hromada

Richard “Kopy” Kopronica, age 80, passed away Saturday, December 26 after a brief illness.  He was born December 9, 1940 to the late Joseph and Mary (Jankovic) Kopronica in Lorain, Ohio.   Richard attended Lorain High School and was employed by Ford Motor Company for 33 years before retiring in 1994.

Richard knew the Lord and had a heart full of grace as well as a soul generated by the Holy Spirit.  He was selfless in his willingness to help others and enjoyed the opportunity to meet their need.  Throughout his life he was well known as the kind of man who was willing to help in any way sharing both his resources and his love for them.  A classic storyteller with great wit, his engaging personality brought humor and joy to any occasion.  Richard was very proud of his Slovak heritage and had a passion for listening to Polka music.

Richard’s true legacy is one as a great patriarch, a dedicated father who did his very best to teach and guide his children throughout their lives because of his unconditional love for them.  He taught them that family always comes first and that it was essential to stand by one another.  He especially loved his role as “Tata”, treasuring every moment he spent with his grandchildren and making memories that will be cherished and never forgotten.  Richard was a strong, proud, and good man.  He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.  While his loss creates a void that cannot be filled, we are comforted to know that he is enjoying an everlasting relationship with the Lord.

Richard was a devoted father and is survived by his six children; Richard (Dawn) of Lorain, Donna (Tony) Pine of Amherst, Kenneth (Rachael) of Cleveland, Kris (Dale) Greenwell of Lorain, Joseph (Terri) of Surprise, AZ, Julia (John) Mobasseri of Novelty; grandchildren Richard (Marlea), Ashley, Parker, Stephan (Jenifer), Gretchen, Katrina, Sarah (Ben), Mary (Dan) Cassy, Corey (Lauren), Collin (Samantha), Alexis, Olivia, Erika, Lyla, Mason and Jack; great-grandchildren Finn, Gabby, Braeden, Ella, Lincoln, Caden, Connor, Caleb, Caidenn, Nina and Adriana; brother Albert of Grafton; many nieces and nephews and his dear friend Valerie Stefancik of Wellington.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son in 1962; his brothers Joseph, John, James, William, Frank, and Ronald Kopronica; sisters Anka, Katherine Kelling, Mary Trnian and Helen Stanziano.
