Gluvna Shimo Hromada

James Pincura, age 73, of Amherst, and formerly of Lorain, passed away at his residence in the early morning hours of Sunday June 24, 2018. Born in Lorain on December 22, 1944, Jim had been a resident of Amherst for the past three years coming from Lorain.

A graduate of Admiral King High School, Mr. Pincura was employed as a mechanic in the diesel garage at U.S. Steel Corporation’s Lorain-Cuyahoga Works. He retired in 2003 following thirty-seven years of service with the steel producer.

A parishioner of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish in Lorain, Jim was a former member of United Steel Workers Local 1104, a member of the Lorain Slovenian Club, and a social member of Amvets Post # 47.

He displayed a deep passion for his Harley Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed classic rock music including the works of Bob Seger; he was also an ardent Cleveland Indians fan.

Survivors include sons Scott Pincura and Elliot (Margie) Rivera both of Lorain, and daughter Angela (Bob) Brooks of Amherst. He also leaves nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brother Joseph Pincura of Avon and his former wife Judy Ortega of Lorain.

Jim was preceded in death by his son James Michael Pincura in 2011, parents Joseph and Lucy (nee Novak) Pincura, and sister Lucy Dorsey.

Funeral Schedule

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish – 2413 Homewood Drive,  with Father John C. Retar, pastor of the parish officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
